How much does Gelatin take from a DJ?
Nothing. There is no platform deduction from a DJ’s set fee. The only money that ever comes out of a DJ’s side is $5 if you check in more than 15 minutes late.
When does the money move?
The booker’s card is authorized when they send the request and charged when the DJ accepts. The money is held in escrow until the night is over, then goes out on the next free weekly payout and lands in 1–2 business days.
What if the event is cancelled?
More than 72 hours out, there’s no cancellation penalty, though card processing already charged isn’t returned. Between 2 and 72 hours, a booker who cancels gets half the DJ’s rate back, the DJ is paid the other half, and the $7 fee and card processing aren’t refunded. If the DJ cancels in that window, the booker is refunded in full and it counts against the DJ’s reliability. Inside 2 hours, cancellation is blocked.
Is card processing hidden in the fee?
No. It’s its own line at checkout, and it’s never deducted from the DJ.
Are there listing fees or monthly minimums?
None. Creating and publishing a profile, taking requests and receiving weekly payouts are all free. You only pay when a booking actually completes.
What does a proposal cost?
Your first one is free. After that it’s $5 to send one, or $5 a month for three if you pitch rooms often. The venue pays nothing to receive or answer it, and Gelatin takes no share of a night that comes from a proposal.
